Our annual event in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day will be January 29, 2018 at 5:30pm with guest Kaja Finkler, professor of Anthropology emerita.

Join Professor Kaja Finkler as she guides us through a world that no longer exists. In her most recently published memoir, Professor Finkler and posthumously her mother Golda recount their lives in Europe before, during and after WWII. A moving narrative of separation, longing, loss, and fortitude; this talk will provide a brief, yet powerful glimpse into the lives of those who lived through one of history’s darkest moments.

Professor Kaja Finkler has been a practicing anthropologist for over 40 years, 25 of which she was professor of anthropology at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Her specialties include Medical Anthropology; Anthropology of Biomedicine; Comparative Medical Systems; Gender, Health and Illness; New Genetics and New Reproductive Technologies; Family and Kinship; Anthropology of Bioethics; Globalization; Latin America; Mexico. She is the author of six books and over 50 refereed articles in her field. She has done extensive field research in Mexico and the United States and has lectured in Australia, Germany, Mexico, Argentina, Sweden, England, Israel and Norway.
