On Friday, March 26th 2021, the Carolina Center for Jewish Studies co-sponsored an event hosted by the NC German Studies Seminars. The event, “On Numbers and Feelings: Antisemitism in Germany Today,” featured Stefanie Schüler-Springorum, professor and the director of the Center for Research on Antisemitism at the Technical University of Berlin. During her talk, Professor Schüler-Springorum reflected on the problematic nature of statistics related to antisemitic incidents and attitudes in contemporary Germany. Her talk was followed by comments from Thomas Pegelow-Kaplan, the Levine Distinguished Professor of Judaic, Holocaust, and Peace Studies at Appalachian State University, and a lively Q&A that featured questions from leading experts in the field of German-Jewish studies. The Center’s director, Ruth von Bernuth, gave the welcome remarks.
