Uhlman Family Seminar: Ordinary Men Revisited

The Uhlman Distinguished Scholar Program for 2020 features Christopher Browning, the Frank Porter Graham Professor Emeritus at UNC-Chapel Hill and professor emeritus of the Carolina Center for Jewish Studies. This special event, co-sponsored by the Carolina Center for Jewish Studies and Carolina Public Humanities, will provide new historical perspectives from one of the leading global experts on Nazi Germany, the Holocaust and the demise of democracy in Europe during the 1930s.

 

Initially scheduled for April 2020, the Uhlman Seminar is now rescheduled for November 12, 5:00pm, as a remote event.

Ordinary Men Revisited:  The Evolution of Holocaust Perpetrator Studies

This event is a special CPH Zoom webinar, co-sponsored by UNC’s Center for Jewish Studies and featuring one of the world’s leading experts on the History of the Holocaust. Professor Browning will discuss responses to his classic book on the Holocaust, Ordinary Men, and talk about recent historical work on the actions and ideologies of Holocaust perpetrators.

 

Professor Browning’s talk will be followed by an opportunity for members of the audience to submit questions and comments via Zoom. Generous private support makes it possible for this program to be free and open to all registered participants, and information about access to the program will be distributed by email on the morning of the event.
