The Uhlman Distinguished Scholar Program for 2020 will feature Christopher Browning, the Frank Porter Graham Professor Emeritus at UNC-Chapel Hill and professor emeritus of the Carolina Center for Jewish Studies. This special public event, co-sponsored by the Carolina Center for Jewish Studies, will provide new historical perspectives from one of the leading global experts on Nazi Germany, the Holocaust and the demise of democracy in Europe during the 1930s.
The Program will begin on Thursday, April 16, with a public reception at 6:00 pm and Professor Browning’s first public talk at 7:00 pm—both in the Fed Ex Global Education Center. There will be a second public presentation by Professor Browning on Friday, April 17 at 2:00 pm in the University Room at the Institute for the Arts and Humanities (Hyde Hall), followed by a panel discussion in which UNC faculty and graduate students will respond to the themes of his talk (3:30-4:30).
