Faculty Grant Application

Application for faculty research/travel and course enhancement grants from the Carolina Center for Jewish Studies. Spring 2018.

  • With these grants, the Carolina Center for Jewish Studies supports faculty research and travel, including travel to present papers at scholarly meetings. This grant can be used to reimburse travel costs pertaining to research projects and/or costs for materials required for research or publishing, as well as to reimburse costs for travel, room, board, and registration costs at domestic or international conferences. Faculty who receive a course development grant from the Carolina Center for Jewish Studies will be expected to submit a brief report detailing how the funds were used. Applicants must be working in a topic in Jewish Studies. Please consult jewishstudies.unc.edu for grant information, and contact jewishstudies@unc.edu if you have questions. Please email the completed application as a single PDF file to jewishstudies@unc.edu no later than 5:00 p.m. on February 20, 2018

    If your project/travel will be completed in the current academic year, before June 10th, please select 2017-2018. If your project/travel will be completed after June 10th, please select 2018-2019. Grants cannot be carried over beyond June 2019.

    • A project proposal (no more than 4 double-spaced pages, 12 pt font), which must be signed by your chair. This proposal should 1) describe the course that is to be developed and its relation to the field of Jewish Studies OR if applying for a course enhancement grant, describe which course you are applying for and list the course, semester and actual or projected enrollment; 2) explain the importance of the grant to developing/enhancing the course and include a budget, 3) explain the importance of the course to the undergraduate curriculum and your home department, with a statement as to the likelihood that this course will be regularly offered, and 4) estimate the anticipated enrollment of the course.
